Marilize Van der Walt, DVM, is a Veterinary Internal Medicine Resident at MedVet Columbus where she has been a part of the team since 2022.
Dr. Van der Walt attended Utah State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. She then earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Utah State and Washington State Regional Program in Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Van der Walt completed an internship in small animal medicine and surgery at VCA Veterinary Care Animal Hospital and Referral Center. Additionally, Dr. Van der Walt has been published in several publications including General and Comparative Endocrinology.
Dr. Marilize Van der Walt has a special interest in endocrinology and immune-mediated diseases. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is providing for the holistic welfare of her patients. She is also passionate about connecting with pet owners to ensure they have a complete and comfortable understanding of their pet’s medical situation.
When not caring for patients, Dr. Van der Walt can be found enjoying outdoor activities such as hiking, climbing, and practicing yoga. She also enjoys Irish dancing and playing the Irish fiddle. She has two loving cats with strong personalities who keep her on her toes.
