Ian J. Brooks, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM) is a Board-Certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist at MedVet Akron where he has been part of the medical team since 2019. Dr. Brooks received a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from New College of Florida. Dr. Brooks then obtained his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Tufts University. After completing veterinary school, Dr. Brooks went on to complete a yearlong rotating internship at Tufts VETS – Veterinary Emergency Treatment and Specialties, as well as a three-year residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Florida.
In addition to his clinical endeavors, Dr. Ian Brooks maintains an active membership in several professional organizations, including the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, and has had his written work on the use of a novel topical treatment for nasal phaeohyphomycosis in a cat published.
While his clinical interests encompass all aspects of veterinary internal medicine, Dr. Ian Brooks maintains a particular interest in endocrinology, gastroenterology, and immune-mediated diseases. His favorite part of practicing veterinary medicine is the variety of diseases that he is able to diagnose and treat. When not caring for his patients, Dr. Brooks enjoys gardening, music, and running.
