Stephanie Byrne, DVM, MVetMed, is Residency Trained in Veterinary Oncology and joined the MedVet Vancouver team in January 2025.
Dr. Byrne attended the University of California, Berkeley where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in molecular environmental biology. She went on to earn a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Byrne then completed three veterinary internships in small animal medicine and surgery at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, The Oncology Service (TOS), and Animal Cancer Care Clinic. She went on to complete her residency and Master of Veterinary Medicine at the Royal Veterinary College Queen Mother Hospital for Animals.
During veterinary school, Dr. Byrne received the J.E. Salsbury Scholarship which is awarded to veterinary students showing superior scholarship, initiative, perseverance, and leadership potential.
Dr. Byrne is dedicated to advancing the veterinary profession. She is a co-author of the publication, A Retrospective Study of Clinical and Histopathological Features of 81 Cases of Canine Apocrine Gland Adenocarcinoma of the Anal Sac: Independent Clinical and Histopathological Risk Factors Associated with Outcome. Dr. Byrne is fascinated by many areas of veterinary oncology. She has a special interest in hematological malignancies, histiocytic disorders, anal gland carcinoma, and urogenital cancers. She is passionate about implementing care plans centered on each pet’s quality of life. One of Dr. Byrne’s favorite parts of veterinary medicine is witnessing the bond between her patients and their families, and how together their courage and resilience are a tangible force for living and loving life.
When not helping pets feel better, Dr. Stephanie Byrne spends time outdoors hiking and running on roads and trails. She also enjoys canine agility shows and competitions.
