Joseph Cacioppo, DVM, PhD, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian at MedVet Vancouver. He joined the team in 2023.
Dr. Cacioppo earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Chicago. He then earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed an emergency medicine and critical care internship at Louisiana State University.
Dr. Cacioppo enjoys many aspects of the veterinary profession. He has special interests in treating cardiac disease, endocrinopathies, and infectious diseases. He also enjoys the initial diagnostic steps and obtaining a diagnosis for his patients. Dr. Cacioppo’s favorite part of being a veterinarian is making a real difference in the lives of pets and their owners, whether that is through medical relief from an illness, providing compassionate hospitalization and care, or answering questions about a diagnosis or a disease process.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Joseph Cacioppo likes to stay active by camping, hiking, and skiing. He also enjoys reading, watching action movies and ice hockey, and spending time with his beloved family and pet dogs.
