Caitlin D. Ashlock, DVM, is a Veterinary Hospitalist at MedVet Indianapolis, where she has been a part of the team since 2022.
Dr. Caitlin Ashlock attended Purdue University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. She then earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine.
Upon completion of veterinary school, Dr. Ashlock completed a rotating medicine and surgery internship at BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tampa, FL. Dr. Ashlock has co-authored multiple publications, including “Dracunculus Infections in Domestic Dogs And Cats in North America; An Under-Recognized Parasite?” in Veterinary Parasitology: Regional Studies and Reports.
Dr. Caitlin Ashlock has a special interest in end-of-life care, wound management, pain management, soft tissue surgery, preventative medicine, and surgery. Her favorite part of veterinary medicine is being able to foster the human-animal bond, which takes on many forms, including making a pet well enough to be discharged from the hospital and live a happy life. Other times, it’s providing a compassionate environment to say goodbye to a loved one. She believes both ends of the spectrum are necessary. She also loves that no two days are ever the same in veterinary medicine – it’s always something new, different, and challenging!
When away from the hospital, Dr. Ashlock is interested in beekeeping and has completed numerous hours of bee continuing education. She hopes to have space for a beehive one day. She also enjoys reading books based on World War II historical events and traveling with her family to Siesta Key, Florida, where she can see her favorite animal, manatees.
