Chiara Costanzo, DVM, PhD, MRCVS, BSAVA PGCertSAECC, is an Emergency Medicine Veterinarian and Medical Director at MedVet Akron, where she has been part of the team since 2022.
Dr. Costanzo attended the University of Teramo where she earned a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree. She then earned a PhD in Emergency and Critical Care, during which she worked as a surgeon, emergency veterinarian, and assistant neurologist at the University of Teramo Hospital.
Prior to joining MedVet, Dr. Costanzo spent several years as a veterinary surgeon, two years as Head Veterinarian and two years as Clinical Director at YourVets Clinic in the United Kingdom. Upon relocating to the United States, Dr. Costanzo successfully completed the Educational Commission for Foreign Veterinary Graduates (ECFVG) program within the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE). Dr. Costanzo is certified to work as a veterinarian in Europe and the United States.
Dr. Chiara Costanzo is published in the Journal of Feline Medicine and Surgery with her scholarly article “Brain Abscesses in Seven Cats Due to a Bite Wound: MRI Findings, Surgical Management, and Outcome.” She has a special interest in soft-tissue surgery, emergency medicine, and critical care.
When away from the hospital, Dr. Costanzo is busy making memories with her husband and three children, traveling, hiking, playing sports, cooking, and exploring.
